DESIGNA completes first phase for the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA)

As announced, DESIGNA finalised the first phase of the Dublin Airport Car Park Management System. Short before Christmas the first applications were successfully put into service. The completion of phase two, consisting of high-end upgrades, will be launched in the end of March
In Phase two the already existing facilities will be enhanced by a Taxi Rank Management System, License Plate Recognition (LPR/ANPR) and a Web-Based Pre-Booking Interface. All systems will be fully-integrated into the existing PM ABACUS system to guarantee a harmonised functionality.

The LPR/ANPR is a system which is able to recognise license plates and directly link them with the parking ticket issued at the entrance barrier. This gives new opportunities to prevent customers from misusing, as it is not possible to exit the car park without the adequate ticket. Furthermore it allows the operator to reproduce lost tickets with the exact time of entrance.

The taxi rank management system is developed to provide easy ticket less entrance and exit. Taxi drivers can acquire a pre-paid card, which when a taxi approaches the barrier, it primarily gets recognised by its License Plate or by a proximity card.

The Web-Based Pre-Book system developed by DESIGNA and Chauntry is a new invention that enables the customer to book&prepay a parking space in advance. This is considered to reduce stress generated by searching a free parking space and the subsequent paying procedure. Via a web interface the user reserves a parking space, pays by credit card and drives in & out the car park without any delay. The Pre-book user gets identified at the entrance by his license plate or by his credit card.

With the Dublin Airport project, DESIGNA demonstrates again the multi-flexibility of the PM ABACUS.
