Digital Payment Technologies Corp. Launches New On-Street Product

New Orleans, LA Digital Payment Technologies Corp., a leading supplier of revenue management solutions for the global parking industry, is pleased to announce the launch of the LUKE Parking Station at the International Parking Conference and Exhibition, June 20, 2004 in New Orleans, LA.
dagital_payment.gif“We are introducing LUKE to the world in New Orleans,” said Rob V. Kragelj, President and C.O.O of Digital Payment. “From the product’s great looks, to the advanced technology core, to the range of remote services, we know this is a product the likes of which the parking industry has never seen. That is why we wanted to have a very distinctive brand name for the product and a slogan that fits with our excitement and commitment.” The slogan for the LUKE Parking Station is Let’s Get Serious.

The LUKE Parking Station has a unique look for a multi-space on-street parking meter. The theme for the mechanical design was “retro-inspired, contemporary design”. The result is a look which is instantly recognizable as parking related, but with all the capabilities required for modern, on-street parking including a full numeric keypad and standard full color 320 x 240 resolution screen.

The LUKE Parking Station’s technology includes many of the capabilities that make the Intella-Pay Payment Station one of the most popular off-street, ungated parking solutions in North America. These include both pay by space and pay and display operation, very flexible rate configuration capability, and ease of use for both parkers and operators. In addition, the LUKE Parking Station also includes the ability to customize both text and graphics on the display, fully integrated voice prompting, and the ability to operate as an information kiosk, which allows cities to provide local information for visitors.

Digital Payment’s Enterprise Management System (EMS) can also be used to control the new product. “Our existing EMS infrastructure can be used by LUKE immediately with no changes,” said John Siu, Vice President Engineering for Digital Payment. “In addition to real-time alarming, true real-time credit card processing and the other existing EMS capabilities, LUKE’s rate and configuration information can also be updated remotely. This means that settings can be changed remotely without the requirement to visit each parking station, providing a tremendous benefit for large systems.”

Digital Payment will be working with a few key customers to deliver and install small quantities of LUKE Parking Stations in July. Feedback from these installations will be incorporated into the full production run which will be shipping in the 3rd quarter of this year.

The LUKE Parking Station is dedicated to the memory of Alex Mellenger. As Parking Services Co-ordinator for the Corporation of the City of White Rock, Alex was instrumental in driving the design and development of many of Digital Payment’s product capabilities. During the 5 years Alex operated Digital Payment equipment and software for the City, he built many strong bonds with the people he dealt with. While not an employee, he was always considered part of the Digital family. We deeply regret that Alex is not here to join us in the excitement of the new product launch and to take his part of the credit for its success. A portion of the profits from the sale of every LUKE Parking Station will be donated to the Step by Step Organ Transplant Association (www.stepbystep.ca) in Alex’s memory.
