Digital Payment Technologies Products Receive Credit Card Industry Validation
Digital Payment Technologies Corp. (DPT) is pleased to announce it has successfully achieved third-party validation of its products under the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS).
Following on the heels of its PCI certification as a Level 1 Service Provider in April 2007, DPT once again engaged PSC of San Jose, a Qualified Payment Application Security Professional firm, to achieve official validation of its products under PCIs PABP. PABP has established a set of 13 best practices designed to protect sensitive credit card information from being compromised. These best practices, which also include numerous sub-best practices, are intended to assist software vendors to create secure payment applications that help merchants and service providers comply with PCI regulations.
As a result of successfully completing a third-party audit of its products, DPT products and software versions are posted on a list of validated payment applications found on Visas Web site. The Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) is Visas brand name for the PCI standards. The Visa Web site publishes updated lists of both validated payment applications and compliant service providers.
DPT has a long-term commitment to the security of sensitive customer data, and we are very pleased to provide our clients with products and services that meet the latest PABP standards, said Andrew Scott, DPT CEO. We believe third-party validation of our products is critical to ensuring the standards are fully met and providing our clients with the assurances they require to successfully meet their own PCI audits. Leadership in the provision of products and services to the parking payment industry is a key focus for DPT.
The PCI DSS was created in 2004 and is based to a large extent on Visas CISP previously established in June 2001. The Standard provides guidelines and rules for merchants and service providers handling credit card information, and is intended to protect credit card data, wherever it resides. It assures cardholders that merchants and service providers maintain the highest information security standards. In September 2006, the PCI SSC became the recognized credit card industry standards organization to own, maintain and distribute the PCI DSS and all its supporting documentation.
