Doha International Airport Cargo Terminal Upgrades Its Parking Facility

Traffic Tech (Gulf) installed an Integrated Parking Management System (PMS) at the Cargo Terminal of the Doha International Airport (DIA), equipped with Qatars first Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) System that has lane width coverage of up to 5 meters.
IMG_1735.jpgMajority of the components installed are supplied by Scheidt and Bachmann (S&B), an industry recognized PMS supplier and Traffic Techs partner for the over 12,000 parking slot PMS projects executed throughout the Middle East including DIA.
The Cargo Terminal has 1 entry and 1 exit that were equipped with automatic barriers, vehicle detection loops and traffic lights; as well as long range RFID readers, transponder card readers and ticket dispensers. In addition, an ANPR system with overview cameras and driver image recognition mega pixel cameras provide increased security features for the system.
The required ANPR coverage for a lane width of 5 meters was initially a challenge because normal ANPR systems can only cover up to 3 meters, says Khaled Al Titi, Traffic Techs VP for Business Development. We had to modify our software and use specialized ANPR cameras to meet the requirement, therefore this became the first 5 meter lane width ANPR system in Qatar.
