GPC Demonstrator Site is a Proud Grant Recipient

Commerce City, Colorado - The Green Parking Council (GPC) recently announced that one of its demonstrator sites, Canopy Airport Parking, is one of sixty partner organizations who have received $500,000 in federal grant funds for Project FEVER (Funding Electric Vehicle Expansion in the Rockies). The goal of this project is to prepare the state of Colorado for electric vehicles and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Over the next year, the sixty partners involved in this venture will work to accomplish this mission through five target areas; permitting, planning, policy, education and outreach.
Project FEVER will empower local communities to develop electric vehicle-readiness plans at their own pace as budgets allow, said Natalia Swalnick, Director of Environmental Health for the American Lung Association in Colorado and Project Director for this grant.

Canopy, having six electric vehicle (EV) charging stations available for free use by garage patrons, is a leader in EV charging infrastructure. The facility is considered one of the greenest parking facilities in the world, and it will serve as a hub for education and outreach regarding the implementation of EV charging equipment. GPC is proud to see this demonstrator site working to further this critical piece of the sustainability movement.

The Green Parking Council (GPC) is a nonprofit organization providing leadership and oversight for the green conversion of parking facilities to sustainable, environmentally responsible assets. GPC is dedicated to expanding green parking practices and environmental services through its Certified Green Garage rating system. GPC encourages new, alternative parking practices and exceptional industry transformation through creative thought and ingenuity. By challenging garage owners and managers to collaborate and create open-sourced, sustainable best practices, the parking industry can positively impact the environment.

Canopy Airport Parking was created by Greenscape Capital and Propark America as a cooperative project. Propark America operates 403 parking facilities nationally, offering custom parking management. Greenscape and Propark collaborated to develop Canopy Airport Parking as a prototype for environmental and efficient practices in the parking industry. Canopy Airport is registered with the certification goal of LEED Certified Gold and is a Green Parking Council Demonstrator Site.
