High Tech Solves Parking at Penn. Garage

Can today's technology be applied as a solution to everyday problems like parking?
Residents at the Rittenhouse Square Condos in Philadelphia, Penn., say "yes." They have a rare underground automated garage to prove it.

The driver parks on a platform and lasers make sure the car is parked correctly. A computer then asks questions of the driver. For example, is the trunk closed?

After the driver answers all of the questions, the pallet then moves the car to the nearest open bay, turning it 180 degrees and backing it into a parking space.

When residents are ready to head out for the day, they simply order up their car using an electronic touch key while still in the garage elevator.

Their car will then be waiting when they arrive on the ground floor.
