HTS's License Plate Recognition system selected for Ticketless Parking Station in Sydney
Hi-Tech Solutions Ltd. (HTS) has announced that HTSs License Plate Recognition (LPR) system has been selected by Australias Wire & wireless for its new Ticketless Parking Station. The first system will be deployed at Market Square shopping center at Lane Cove, a suburb near Sydney, Australia.
Wire & Wireless provides building, security and engineering services and solutions for the residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure sectors.
Ticketless Parking Station will be installed at the entrances and exits of Lane Cove Market Squares multi-level parking station. The system, to be operational in June 2010, will allow shoppers to enter the parking station without stopping at the entry gate. The system will automatically open the gate and record the plate number and entry time.
When exiting the parking station, the Ticketless Parking Station will allow cars that didnt exceed the two-hour free parking period to exit free of charge. The system will calculate the parking fee for cars that park longer than two hours, based on the time difference between exit and entry. These cars will be directed to pay at the exit station or via a pay on foot (POF) machine.
HTSs proprietary vision-based LPR system reads and identifies plate numbers and letters, and records the information in real time for further processing according to customers needs and specifications. The LPR system comprises software and hardware, configured to the site specifications. HTSs LPR system includes self-developed recognition engine software for simple integration into other applications.
The LPR system can be used for either access control in parking garages or on roadside poles and gantries for traffic surveillance and monitoring applications where passing vehicles can be tracked for a wide range of security and logistic functions, while automatically generating a vehicle list.
The Ticketless Parking Station prevents bottlenecks at the entrances and exits of Lane Cove Market Squares parking station, allowing cars to enter and exit faster, said Vaso Stojackovic, Director of Wire & Wireless. The system is environmentally friendly, due to paper saving, and we intend to sell it worldwide.
