Colorado Department of Transportation Becomes the Latest in a Growing List of Government Departments to Install an INDECT Parking Guidance System

Colorado Department of Transportation

INDECT USA today announces the installation of an ultra-sonic parking guidance system at the Colorado Department of Transportation’s new headquarters in downtown Denver.

The new parking garage is centrally located beside Bronco Stadium with 330 spaces available for staff and visitors accessible through dedicated entries.  LED, RGB sensors have been installed at the front of every space for maximum visibility.  Lights above spaces reserved for ADA drivers have been color coded blue, while those reserved for electric vehicles are white.

One of the things that sets INDECT apart from their competitors is their ability to manufacture unique, custom signage. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) wanted their new parking garage to not only be functional but also aesthetically pleasing. As a result, all signage casings have been manufactured in safety orange to match the Department’s corporate colors. The custom logo on the monument sign is an LED, backlit, push-through with acrylic lettering to enhance visibility and increase the ‘pop’ of the sign.

Parking guidance systems can be divided into two categories, single-space and level-counting systems. Level counting systems are able to provide basic guidance in a simple garage layout where the driver is directed to a level with available spaces but there is minimal opportunity for complex solutions. Single-space systems on the other hand are more flexible and offer much greater scope for client customization.

CDOT regularly has a number of stored vehicles on their premises, which they did not want be included in the daily count.  By choosing a single-space system, these vehicles were able to be placed in a special reserved area and excluded from the number of available spaces. This is something a level counting system would have been unable to manage.

CDOT has become the latest in a rapidly growing list of USA government departments, to choose INDECT USA as their preferred provider of intelligent parking guidance. Other progressive cities such as Beverly Hills, Round Rock and Doral have also chosen to provide their residents with smart, reliable, driver-friendly guidance systems.
