Terminal E lights up at DFW International Airport

INDECT USA, the parking industry's leading provider of sensor-based parking guidance systems, has announced the completion of their latest parking guidance installation in Terminal E at the DFW International Airport.

Benefits previously only available to international travelers or those flying with American Airlines will soon be experienced by all domestic travelers. Customers travelling with Air Canada, Alaska, Delta, Fronteir, Jet Blue, Spirit, United and West Jet will notice a significant improvement in the time it takes to find a parking space, resulting in a more positive travel experience.

"There are now 12,000 ultrasonic sensors installed over three terminals monitoring 15,000 parking spaces," said Dale Fowler, Director of INDECT USA. "Making DFW Airport the largest single installation of parking guidance sensors in the USA."

Since renovations began in 2011, DFW Airport has focused on providing the best possible experience for their customers. Recognizing that the customer's journey starts the moment the enter the parking garage, the airport made an early decision to invest in a parking guidance system.

INDECT sensorsSensors were placed above each parking space giving drivers a clear view of available spaces. Different colors indicate each space's status: green for available, red for occupied, blue for ADA and white for one-hour parking. The lights are clearly visible from several hundred yards away and LED signs at the end of each driving aisle help direct drivers to the nearest available space.

DFW's vision and dedication to quality has paid off with the airport recently being named the best large airport in North America for customer satisfaction by the Airport Service Quality Awards and the first airport in the USA to acheive carbon neutral recognition.

Installing the INDECT parking guidance system has proven to be one of the best decisions the airport has made. "We probably get more positive feedback from that technology than almost any other technology improvement we've made." said Sean Donohue, CEO of DFW Airport.

The airport's transformation is ongoing with even more customer benefits in the pipeline, such as the decision to develop a parking app that will allow travelers to find and pay for parking in advance1. This technology combined with INDECT's parking guidance system will ensure DFW Airport remains number one on the customer satisfaction list for many moons to come.
