Intertraffic Mexico 2018

Intertraffic, the leading platform globally for smart mobility, infrastructure, traffic management, safety, and parking staged its third event edition in Mexico from 13-15 November 2018. The next edition of Intertraffic Mexico will be staged from 12 to 14 November 2019 in Centro Citibanamex, Mexico City. Intertraffic Mexico is organized by RAI Amsterdam in partnership with Tarsus Mexico.

With the participation of 130 exhibitors from 13 countries, Intertraffic Mexico 2018 was the strategic market place to build business relationships, explore distribution channels and stimulate public-private partnerships. Promoting efficient, sustainable, and healthy mobility for all citizens, through innovation and technology was key during the 3-day event.

The Association of Local and Municipal Authorities, the Mexican Mobility Authorities Association, the Mexican Association of Municipal Planning Institutes, and the National Mayors Association all chose to congregate at Intertraffic Mexico to organize their own gatherings and engage in an array of networking and learning opportunities.

Growing demand for diversified mobility

There is a growing demand for more diversified mobility in view of economy, efficiency, and safety. A smart and well defined strategy combining innovation and technology is hence of the essence. Moreover, stimulating and optimizing public transport and mobility as a service are essential steps to enhance mobility from both an environmental as well as an urban livability perspective.

José Navarro, CEO for Tarsus Mexico, affirmed that “the impact in society through Intertraffic is to improve mobility of individuals. We aim to speed up the connection for the challenges in mobility of today and tomorrow and, therefore, promote a secure, mobile, and sustainable lifestyle”.
Editha Hoogenberg-Derksen, Event Director Intertraffic Mexico of RAI Amsterdam, brand owner of the Intertraffic Worldwide Events portfolio, adds “The exchange of global insights, experience and best practices is contributing tremendously to the regional transition to smart and efficient mobility. We were pleased to welcome stakeholders from Mexico as well as Chile, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil to name just a few. With an increased level of seniority and budget authority valuable connections were made for new smart mobility ventures and applications."

Top-level conferences

A top-level conference programme with a lineup of 20 renowned specialists in smart mobility offered attendees valuable visions on the present and future mobility challenges.

Challenges are diverse, according to keynote speaker Christopher Zegras, Professor of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). “Mexico City maintains a robust infrastructure in favor of mobility. However, users are unaware how to maximize its potential. Likewise, the government needs to be more creative and incorporate the citizens in urban transportation planning”, he added.
Deloitte Mexico contributed by stating that four pillars are essential to achieve mobility as a service; Specialized technology infrastructure, big data, transportation operations with available mobility solutions involved in the process, and lastly, mobility advisors combining these pillars.

Cutting edge solutions for industry professionals

Urban mobility is a common goal that requires participation from governments, organizations, private initiatives, academic institutes and the community in general. Strategic mobility planning of cities and municipalities is essential to improve infrastructure, such as motorways, highways, beltways, bridges, and crossroads, as well as to implement public transportation and road safety innovation.” Stated Laura Barrera, Director of Intertraffic Mexico for Tarsus Mexico. Smart mobility takes advantage of automation and the new mobility platforms to speed up economic growth, providing access to employment and the means to improve the quality of life for the entire social structure.
