After attending another successfull year at the Airport Parking Network Event, Inventive reflect on the key messages delivered throughout their 4th annual conference held at Munich Airport.
Gary Pyatt and Dr Andreas Papayiannis held several workshops discussing how to increase airport product and parking distribution and revenue management.
Below we summarise the areas that are important to enable airports to maximise revenues and work with distributors such as airlines and travel agents and how Inventive can help.
How can I attract more people to my parking website?
Have a prominent position on your main airport website. Invest in Adwords and PPC, make sure your parking site is fully mobile optimised. Make sure you make it easy for mobile users to search and book.
What else can I sell?
Offer additional products such as lounge, fast track, destination car hire, transfers etc. Up sell and Cross sell - offer an upgrade to a higher margin product during booking. Bundle products together; for example; offer premium parking product with lounge access, maybe even add cocktails or champagne too.
How can I increase occupancy particularly during off peak periods?
Work with distributors so they offer your parking and ancillaries. Airlines, travel agents and local, large companies give you exclusive access to their customers or staff. Target large, local companies who can insist their employees book your parking when travelling on business. We can help you make contact with them.
How can I generate more bookings?
Communicate with your customer - regular emails, incorporating information prior to departure to offer ancillaries, upgrades, -promotions and discounts. Work with retailers to offer money off vouchers or free coffees etc. Have a real focus on conversion rates, make sure the booking journey is simple and quick. Create special offers and be sure to show any discounts prominently.
What can I do to combat off-site parking competitors?
Consider a budget parking brand to compete directly with the cheaper off-site parking operators.
How can I maximise revenues?
Consider using lead time and occupancy based pricing. You should be charging more if occupancy is high and perhaps giving more discount to those who book further in advance.
