Invisa launches OEM program to make parking gates safer

Invisa, Inc. announced the introduction of its OEM Program for parking gate manufacturers. The focus of Invisa’s OEM Program is to improve safety for pedestrians, children and bicyclists and to provide a sound risk management tool for participating manufacturers.
Invisa’s OEM Program is available to all manufacturers of parking gates.

Participating parking gate manufacturers will adopt a policy to advise their customers of the risks generally associated with parking gates and to urge their customers to make a thorough risk assessment of current and planned installations. To help customers mitigate identified risks, participating manufacturers will integrate SmartGate® electronic non-contact safety equipment into select models of their parking gates allowing their customers to select and purchase parking gates directly from the manufacturer that meet the appropriate level of site safety.

Powered parking gates without electronic non-contact safety equipment represent a significant potential risk. Unprotected parking gates are particularly dangerous in environments where pedestrian traffic is heavy, pedestrians are preoccupied, children live or play and bicyclists and motorcyclists ride. Every owner and operator of a powered parking gate has a responsibility to maintain a safe environment. Examples of high-risk environments can include: employee and customer parking lots, gated subdivisions, condominiums and apartments, municipal buildings and parking facilities, entertainment venues, airports, hotels and pay-parking facilities. Whenever there is a reasonable likelihood that powered parking gates pose a potential risk electronic non-contact safety equipment should be used.
Invisa’s line of SmartGate safety equipment is the only electronic non-contact safety system designed to provide an invisible field that moves with and precedes the gate arm. If the gate arm is coming down on a pedestrian, bicycle, motorcycle, car or other vehicle, the gate arm is signaled to stop and reverse before any contact has been made to avoid injury and damage.

According to Carl Parks, Chief Operations Officer of Invisa, "The OEM Program supports gate manufacturers who want their customers to make informed safety decisions. We find that when customers are made aware of the risks of parking gates, particularly risks to pedestrians, children, motorcyclists and bicyclists, they generally select the appropriate level of safety for their particular gate site. By being pro-active in helping their customers to make informed decisions regarding safety, participating manufacturers enhance their risk management program."

Steve Michael, Invisa's acting President, stated, "In the final analysis, it is the owner/operator of these gates who is in the best position to know the safety requirements of their particular site. Most manufacturers believe that given the right safety information, their customers will make the appropriate choice. Our Program provides participating manufactures with tools to support their customers in making an informed safety decision. Accordingly, our OEM Program is an important part of a comprehensive risk management strategy for manufacturers."

About Invisa

Invisa presence sensing solutions serve the electronic life safety and security markets. Invisa’s proprietary InvisaShield™ technology is based upon capacitive sensing and is resistant to known methods of circumvention without employing infrared, laser, ultrasound or microwave radiation. InvisaShield can detect intruders who violate a sensing zone ranging from millimeters up to one meter. Invisa's SmartGate safety system generates an invisible protective field that moves with and precedes the potentially hazardous leading edge of powered gates, garage doors, sliding doors and other powered closures.
