Iteris Launches Southern California Personalized Traveler Information System
Iteris, Inc., the operating subsidiary of Iteris Holdings, Inc., announced that it has launched CommuteView(TM), its advanced traveler information service that covers the four-county Los Angeles metropolitan area.
CommuteView offers users in the Southern California market the ability to receive traveler information such as personalized traffic reports that provide trip travel time for their routes, free parking places, comparison reports that help users pick the best route home and traffic accident information specific to their route. This information can be instantly delivered to their desktops or wireless devices.
"Our team of engineers leveraged years of prior investment in traveler information systems to develop and deliver a premier service that exceeds any on the market," said Abbas Mohaddes, executive vice president for Iteris, Inc. "No longer do commuters have to scan the radio for a traffic report on their route -- CommuteView provides them the information they want, when they want it and where they want it. We believe that this service has applicability in metropolitan areas throughout the U.S."
The CommuteView service was launched as an Early Deployment Project, which is also part of the City of El Segundo's Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Plan. As part of this deployment, Iteris has introduced the service to a pilot audience of El Segundo-area employees. These employees are using the system daily and will provide feedback to city transportation officials on the benefits of using the CommuteView personalized traveler information system.
Over the past several months, Iteris has been working with the El Segundo Employers Association, Los Angeles County Department of Public Works and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) to design a service that brings Advanced Traveler Information Services to El Segundo area employees.
"The CommuteView service is designed to increase the efficiency of commuters' trips -- thereby improving their quality of life by reducing the time they spend in their cars and maximizing the time they spend in their homes," said Jane White, LA County program manager.
