Kansas City Aviation Department Launches KCI QuickTag For Economy Parking Lot

As part of its ongoing effort to make the traveling experience more convenient, the Kansas City Aviation Department today introduced the KCI QuickTag automatic payment system at the Economy Parking Lot facility at Kansas City International Airport.
kci_quicktag.jpgSimilar to the Kansas Turnpike Authority’s K-TAG system, KCI QuickTag uses a small transponder adhered to the inside of the vehicle’s windshield to automatically activate specially marked gates at the Economy Parking Lot, enabling the user to enter and exit the parking lot without stopping at the Cookingham Drive/Bern Street entrance and the Mexico City entry/exit plaza. An electronic reader automatically charges the user’s credit card, and a password-protected Web site enables the user to instantly check account status at any time.

To enroll in the KCI QuickTag program, travelers can log on to flykci.com and complete an on-line application, or they can receive an application at Economy Parking Lot exit booths or by calling toll-free 888-269-2811. The initial cost to enroll is $12.50, which includes the cost to ship a transponder to the applicant’s home or office.

Those already enrolled in the K-TAG program may use their existing transponder, but must create a separate KCI QuickTag account in order to enter and exit the Economy Parking Lot.

“KCI QuickTag is the latest in a series of upgrades of infrastructure and technology upgrades we have implemented in order to make the traveling experience at KCI safer, faster and more convenient,” said Mark VanLoh, director, Kansas City Aviation Department. “We believe this new service will appeal especially to business travelers and other frequent flyers.”
transcore.jpgIn November, the Kansas City Aviation Department will complete the $258 million Terminal Improvement Project (TIP), which has greatly enhanced all public areas of KCI’s three terminals, as well as information and technology systems used by passengers and tenant airlines alike. A $62 million economy parking facility opened to the public in January, offering faster car-to-terminal service for travelers, and the aviation department will soon break ground for a consolidated rental car hub facility that will open in 2006.
