Kansas City International Airport opened its new 15,000-space economy parking lot Monday. The $62 million, 220-acre lot opened as scheduled at 2:00 am, said Dave Hurst, the airport's manager of parking operations.
The new lot boasts three color-coded sections each dedicated to one of the airport's three terminals. The lot, which charges $5 a day, has 32 heated shelters with images that help people remember where they parked. It also has security cameras and more than 600 lights. GPS units allow dispatchers to monitor bus locations at all times.
