KCI Garages to Feature New Art
Three Kansas City artists this month will begin installing light and neon fixtures inside KCI airport's nine parking garage stair towers.
The $90,000 artwork is part of the city's One Percent for Art program. In this case, the money comes from the $258 million terminal renovation project. One of the artists has created three rotating fixtures that resemble propellers. Each includes two 4-foot-long neon lights attached to opposite sides of a motor. Another artist will feature crescent-shaped, multicolored, glass structures simulating a rainbow. The third artist's work will include light structures of neon, scrap motor and industrial parts.
