Larry Griffis, P.E., Named ACI Fellow

Griffis has directed or made significant contribution to the structural design of more than 75 major buildings throughout the US and internationally. During his 35 years of practical design and management experience, he also has been involved in numerous technical committees, exploring and documenting specialized structural issues of design, construction, and delivery.

About The American Concrete Institute

The American Concrete Institute is an international technical society focused on the advancement of concrete knowledge. Founded in 1904 and headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, the American Concrete Institute is advancing concrete knowledge by conducting 125 seminars annually, managing 14 different certification programs, publishing more than 400 technical documents, and offering scholarships to students in the field. With 98 chapters and about 15,000 members spanning 108 countries, the American Concrete Institute has always retained the same basic missionto develop, share, and disseminate the knowledge and information needed to utilize concrete to its fullest potential.

Griffis is a member of the ACI Building Code Committee for Structural Concrete (ACI 318) and several sub-committees.

ACI Fellows

The Bylaws provide that Fellows are nominated by a Fellows Nomination Committee and elected by the Board of Direction. Potential candidates may be presented to the Fellows Nomination Committee for its consideration by a member of the Committee, by a local chapter, by the International Committee, or by petition by five current ACI Members. At the time of nomination, a Fellow shall have been a Member of the Institute, or a representative of an Organizational or Sustaining Member of the Institute, for at least ten years, including three of the last five years. A Fellow shall have made outstanding contributions to the production or use of concrete materials, products, and structures in the areas of education, research, development, design, construction, or management. In addition, a Fellow shall have made significant contributions to ACI through committees and/or local chapters. A Fellow shall retain that membership rank as long as membership in the Institute is maintained.
