LAZ Parking announced today that it has been awarded a five-year contract by the City & County of San Francisco, CA to provide support services for parking meters under the oversight of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) and the Port of San Francisco. Under the agreement, which went into effect August 1, LAZ will provide parking meter coin and data collection and other associated support services to SFMTA. The contract, valued at up to $50.7 million, comes with an extension option of up to an additional five years.

SFMTA is a department of the City and County of San Francisco responsible for the management of all ground transportation, including the Municipal Railway (Muni) public transit, parking, bicycling, paratransit, traffic, walking, and taxis. The Port of San Francisco manages a 7.5 mile stretch of city waterfront that is home to some of the city’s best-known attractions including the Embarcadero Promenade, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Pier 39.

"LAZ is thrilled to have been selected by the City & County of San Francisco to provide parking meter support services at SMFTA locations throughout the city, as well as high profile locations managed by the Port of San Francisco,” said Alan Lazowski, Founder, Chairman and CEO of LAZ Parking. "This is an acknowledgment of the value and high level of service LAZ provides to municipal clients and the confidence municipal leaders have in our ability to maintain that level of service in the future.”

Specific services LAZ will provide under the contract include coin collection and delivery services, collection of data on the condition of the meters and, in partnership with Dixon Resources, a unique task of capturing, analyzing and reporting curb occupancy data to allow SFMTA to make data-driven decisions. LAZ will also conduct surveys related to meter inventory, curb regulations, and overhead and meter signage as requested by SFMTA. Additionally, LAZ will oversee the procurement of parts for parking meters and, upon request, monitor revenue reconciliation, reporting and real-time transaction variance in collaboration with Priority Ventures, a hardware, software, and program management solutions company based in Greater San Francisco.

San Francisco is the latest in a growing list of government clients contracting with LAZ to provide parking and transportation services. LAZ partners with municipalities and government entities throughout the country to manage, lease or privatize parking projects, provide consulting services, and streamline parking operations. LAZ also operates hundreds of thousands of parking spaces for government entities, from large and complex public garages and surface lots to some of the biggest on-street parking systems in the world.

At LAZ, we are proud of our reputation as a leader in the parking and transportation services industry and the acknowledgment of that reputation that this contract represents,” said Robert Maroney, Vice President of Government Services at LAZ Parking. “The team of dedicated professionals leading our Government Services division has over 200 years of combined experience in government parking. This affords us a nuanced understanding unrivaled in the industry of the balance that government agencies must constantly strike between public accountability and service to the community.”

We are honored by the trust the City & County of San Francisco has placed in LAZ to deliver targeted, cost-effective parking meter support services that meet the needs of the SFMTA and the Port of San Francisco,” added Muhammad Mansoor, Vice President of Government Operations for LAZ Parking. “Importantly, this contract also enables us to grow our workforce and add jobs to the local economy.”

Headquartered in Hartford, CT, LAZ is a privately owned parking company in business for more than 40 years. LAZ provides parking services and solutions across a range of market segments which, in addition to municipalities and government entities, include hospitality, healthcare, residential, retail, and events.
