Lincoln City, Oregon Unveils ChargePoint Networked Charging Station Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles
Coulomb Technologies the leader in electric vehicle charging station infrastructure and the City of Lincoln City today announced the grand opening of their first ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles (EV).
The charging station is the first of six stations located in and around the coastal town of Lincoln City. The official unveiling of the station took place on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 4:00 pm at the Public Parking Lot on SW 1st Street. Available to the public, the event also featured two electric vehicles, city officials and Charge Northwest representative Jim Blaisdell.
Open to the public, the Lincoln City charging stations will also be used for city fleet cars as they move to zero emission vehicles. Charge Northwest is the authorized distributor of ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations from Coulomb Technologies in the Northwest.
We have identified three great locations where a charge can be done easily and quickly, while drivers enjoy the amenities of the immediate surrounding areas, said Lincoln City Urban Renewal Director, Kurt Olsen. In addition to the SW 51st Street location, two stations will be installed in north Lincoln City at the Community Center and two others in the center of town. Visitor & Convention Bureau Executive Director, Sandy Pfaff, explained that Lincoln City wants to make travel to this beautiful destination as easy and environmentally-friendly as possible.
Lincoln City will attract new visitors from Oregon, Washington and California because of their forward thinking approach to new forms of transportation, said Richard Lowenthal, CEO of Coulomb Technologies. The City motto is A Great Place to Try New Things and certainly establishing the infrastructure will garner attention from electric vehicle owners.
Coulomb Technologies charging stations are used in municipalities, utilities, office buildings and parking garages to allow consumers to charge their electric vehicles wherever they live, work and shop. The network of electric vehicle charging stations, called the ChargePoint Network, is accessible to all plug-in drivers by making a toll free call to the 24/7 number on each charging station, or drivers can sign up for a monthly subscription to the ChargePoint Network and receive a ChargePoint Smart Card that allows them to charge their car at any charging station worldwide.
