London Borough of Camden to adopt Parkmobiles Electronic Parking System
Camden Council has awarded Parkmobile the contract to implement a complete Web-enabled electronic Permit Management System for its permit holders. A Borough-wide introduction of Parkmobiles Cashless & Ticketless Mobile Phone Parking system will follow in the fourth quarter of this year.
Significant service improvement
Parkmobile’s web-enabled permit management system means that a visit to a Parking Shop redundant.Full-integration with Camden’s own systems allow applicants to pay for their permits online in addition to arranging all their other permit needs, such as renewal, refund or change of details. Using their own online personal home page permit applicants can also see the status of their applications and if necessary collect any messages from the officer dealing with their application.
One-off fraud proof electronic permit
The current paper permits will be replaced with a Camden Council branded RFID transponder card from Parkmobile that can be used for all the various types of permits the Council operates. This electronic permit is 100% fraud proof as it cannot be copied and will only need to be issued to the permit holder once, if lost or stolen it can immediately be deactivated so making it of no inherent value.Increase efficiency, direct cost savings
As the Parkmobile system allows permit holders to organise their own permit matters online, and an electronic permit only needs to be issued once, there are significant reductions in the workload for the council parking office. Further cost saving are achieved by the reduced administration costs associated of dealing with permit fraud and misuse.Enforcement will also become less time consuming and more effective with Parking attendants able to use a RFID handheld (with a GPRS connection) to quickly scan electronic permits to check their validity.
Borough-wide cashless & ticketless parking by mobile phone
Once the web-enabled electronic permit management system is operational, Camden Council will launch Parkmobile’s cashless & ticketless parking throughout the Borough. This means around 40,000 permit holders, residents and visitors to the London Borough of Camden could enjoy the benefits of paying for their on-street parking using their mobile phone.Parkmobile’s cashless & ticketless parking was the winner of the 2004 CNET Networks Awards’ Mobile Product or Initiative of the year.
