Metric Strengthens Sales and Commercial Teams With a Series of New Appointments

Metric has made a series of appointments within the sales, commercial and QA departments

Innovative payments solutions’ company Metric has appointed several new team members to strengthen sales around the globe.

Andrew Wheeler has been appointed as the new Head of Sales for the UK and Ireland. Based at Metric’s UK headquarters in Swindon, Andrew will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering Metric’s new sales strategy, as well as maintaining relationships with key accounts and partners. Andrew will be managing the sales team in the UK and will be integral in introducing new products and services to the UK market. He will increase the group’s focus on strategic application areas like Parking, Retail, and Payment markets.

Joseph McManus has been appointed as Sales Manager for London and the South East. With his experience within ANPR and security, McManus will add valuable expertise within this application area. Joseph recently held a position as Sales Manager at Tagmaster UK and Mayflex.

Christopher Wortley, Managing Director at Metric, commented: “There is a natural synergy between parking technologies and ANPR, and Joseph’s technical knowledge, combined with his proven sales and marketing capabilities, will help make him an integral part of the successful Metric team.”

Steve Eeles has been appointed as Head of Service Sales. Steve started his working life with Metric (then Control Systems Ltd) in the mid-80s as an apprentice at the production unit in Herne Bay. He moved in to field service as an engineer when he was 21, rising to become a Technical Support Engineer, providing support to both national and international customers, and traveling as far as Argentina. He rose to become the Head of Field Service before his recent move into his new role as Head of Service Sales.

Louise O’Leary has taken up the role of Commercial Manager. Louise started working for Metric in 2006 as a Custom Software Programmer within the Product Configuration department where she worked closely with our customers to define their requirements and implement machine tariff and configuration software.

She then changed roles internally and was given the chance to work in Procurement and study towards a CIPS qualification. As a Purchasing Assistant working within Procurement it allowed her to work closely with our supply chain partners ensuring that they remain reactive to our supply chain needs for a JIT manufacturing approach. Louise was awarded her CIPS Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Procurement and supply operations and CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply.

And Matt Hammond has become Metric’s new Technical QA Manager. In this critical role, Matt is now the “Gate Keeper” for new products, software upgrades, and any new parts being released to both internal and external customers.

Matt joined Metric Group in 2006 as a Field Service Engineer and spent the next six years gaining experience on all of Metric’s Products. He then joined the Technical support team as Engineer before being promoted to Senior Product Specialist in 2017. Matt has become a valuable member of the Metric team, working closely with R&D and our customers to design and implement innovative solutions to our customers' problems. Over the last six years, he has worked very closely with national and international customers, so he understands the complexity of their requirements. This experience will be invaluable in his role as Technical/QA Manager as he can pass on his unique experience to the Development and Production teams.
