METRICS NEW SOFTWARE TO GIVE ROYAL BOROUGHS RESIDENTS CHEAPER PARKING

Metric, who have supplied the borough with a total of 95 Accent and S2 parking machines, are developing new software using chip smart card technology.

The software is designed to accept the latest version of the borough’s Advantage card that entitles residents of the borough to park on or off street at a discounted rate.

Upon the Advantage card being inserted in the Metric Accent or S2 parking machine, the software will check the card’s validity and then automatically call up a preferential rate for Advantage card customers.

The new software package will identify a resident’s entitlement to a reduced rate for parking. The Advantage card is a borough wide universal card which is also accepted at the leisure centres and libraries. All locations where the Advantage card is accepted, are linked back to a central data base.
