Camden Mayor Dana Reed Announces Expansion of Pay by Cell Parking Service in co-operation with MobileNOW!

Almost a year after the launch of the initial pilot program, Camden Mayor Dana Reed announces expansion of Camden’s Pay by Cell Parking Service.

“Given the success of the pilot program between the Parking Authority of the City of Camden and MobileNOW!, we are very pleased to announce our continued partnership with MobileNOW! and an expansion of the program, The Pay By Cell Parking Service. Now made available to a broader constituency in the City of Camden, we will continue to take the pain out of parking for the people of the City of Camden and for all of those doing business, visiting and getting an education here.”

MobileNOW!, a leader in technology and parking management solutions, partnered up with the Parking Authority City of Camden (PACC) to launch a pay by cell parking service. Currently deployed in the University district of Camden, near the Rutgers, Rowan and Camden Community College campuses, MobileNOW! has made Camden’s University District a hip place to park in New Jersey. As students constitute 80% of all app users, it is a seamless crossover for Camden’s tech savvy student body. No student will think twice about the $.35 convenience fee, nor will anyone else as it’s a small price to pay for convenience and peace of mind. MobileNOW!‘s easy to use app makes city sense and takes the pain out of parking in Camden.

MobileNOW! is a modern move that put the City of Camden on the cutting edge of urban technology,” says Camden Mayor Dana Redd. There are no more paper trails, parking stubs or digging in one’s wallet for cash or cards. “We have taken the pain out of parking and replaced it with pleasure. MobileNOW! is the City of Camden’s new must have app.” MobileNOW! allows those in school, visiting or doing business in the University District to manage their parking from one simple platform, their phone. Whether you’re calling in and following the prompts or opting for an easy to access app, (currently available in ITunes and Android Play Store), it can all be done in the comfort of your car or before you even walk out your door.

In order to kick the program in to high gear, MobileNOW! and the PACC handed out 2000 (2 hour) free vouchers to locals, so they could test drive the service. It was as easy as starting a car. Customers were simply prompted on the local pay by cell number, by pressing 3# on their phone and then entering their 15-digit code. This enabled them to add money associated with their phone. They simply entered the space number of their parking spot and were automatically given 2 hours of free parking.

MobileNOW! won the competitive RFP for all on-street spaces in Camden, which will encompass busy areas around the courthouse, hospital, in addition to the universities. So, if your class, court appearance, or hospital visit runs late, you no longer have to pay the price. Time “on the meter” can quickly be extended via your phone.
