National Parking Association Announces Launch of NPA Issue Alerts Program
Parking Association Brings Policy, Advocacy and Regulatory Alerts to Industry
The National Parking Association (NPA) today announced the launch of its worldwide NPA Issue Alerts Program. This new program provides parking industry leaders with informational, policy and action alerts on critical legislative, regulatory, financial, tax and transportation issues facing the industry.
Since launching the program, NPA has alerted members to issues with bottom line impact to their organizations. As a result of an accounting rulemaking alert, NPA members joined to form the NPA Leasing Task Force with representatives from member companies Central Parking System, Nashville, Tenn.; City of Houston Airport System, Houston, Texas; Colonial Parking, Inc., Washington, D.C.; Colonial Parking, Inc., Wilmington, Del.; and LAZ Parking, Hartford, Conn.; to prepare an industry wide public comment letter opposing proposed lease accounting rules. In the United States, NPA joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and 32 organizations in a trade group public comment letter on this issue.
NPA is focused on addressing the critical business issues, trends and public policy dialogues that affect our members across the private and public sectors, said President Christine Banning, CAE. We focus on the bottom line business issues that affect the success of private and public entities in serving citizens and communities to make parking available, affordable and convenient. Our members are involved in their local communities, cities and nations as part of urban redevelopment, mixed use planning and sustainability efforts. These business leaders have a seat at the table in decision making on critical issues.
