NCP Partners with PayByPhone for Mobile Payments

CP, the UK’s largest parking operator, has today announced that it has entered into a partnership with PayByPhone, the global leader in mobile parking payments, to implement PayByPhone’s mobile payment systems across the NCP estate.

Under the terms of the agreement, PayByPhone’s mobile technology will be made available across NCP’s car parking estate that serves up to 42 million customers annually. Going forward, PayByPhone’s technology will also be incorporated into NCP’s own suite of digital services and NCP will partner with Volkswagen Financial Services to incorporate parking technologies into its in-car platform.

In the first phase, PayByPhone will be rolled out across NCP’s existing barrier-less car parks so that customers can use their mobile to pay for parking rather than using cash or cards at payment machines.

In the next phase of development, PayByPhone and NCP’s ParkPassTM, which was launched in July 2016, will be integrated to offer a seamless service for customers to find, pre-book and pay for parking across the NCP estate, and avoid visiting payment machines.

Jonathan Scott, Chief Executive Officer at NCP, said: “PayByPhone and its parent company Volkswagen Financial Services are progressive partners with a clear and aligned vision of how we can work together for the benefit of our end customers and cities across the UK. This is a natural step in delivering NCP’s digital strategy and integrating with carefully chosen partners across the mobility value chain.

Our aim is to collectively deliver real customer benefits and, by working with vehicle manufacturers, build a platform that will enable the growth of Smart Cities to reduce pollution, congestion and driven miles.”

Jonny Combe, PayByPhone UK Chief Executive Officer, says, “As the global leader in mobile parking payment technology, we are delighted to be entering into a strategic partnership with NCP, the UK’s largest parking operator, to create a best-in-class experience. Our cashless payment services provide a flexible and convenient option for drivers using the NCP estate.

We are looking forward to the future in which we are working on a longer-term partnership to incorporate our parking services into in-car software platforms, so that drivers will be able to find and pay for available parking spaces from the comfort of their vehicle.”

NCP currently works with a number of different mobile payment providers, which will be consolidated into PayByPhone and ParkPass.

Jonathan Scott adds: “This partnership is about offering choice and ending years of frustration for customers who previously have had to subscribe to a variety of different payment methods for specific car parks. NCP, PayByPhone and Volkswagen Financial Services share a common goal to work with other progressive organisations with the aim of improving the overall parking experience.”
