Netsize wins Mobistar Multimedia Innovation Award
Netsize the global leader for mobile business and payment solutions today announced that it has won the Mobistar Multimedia Innovation Award for implementing a mobile payments solution in a partnership with Crandy (NCS mobile payment bank GmbH) for car parking tickets in the City of Gent.
The SMS solution powered by Netsize enables consumers to pay for parking spaces by triggering a mobile message to the parking meter confirming payments via their Crandy mobile payment account.

The City of Gent who also received the Mobistar award in partnership with Crandy and Parkeon, has implemented the innovative service to make it easier for citizens to pay for car parking.
Special short codes (4 digit mobile numbers) are advertised in parking lots encouraging customers to send an SMS which includes their car registration number and the duration they wish to park their car for. Consumers receive back a confirmation message detailing the amount they are being charged and the duration they are entitled to. Consumers also have the choice of extending their parking ticket by texting a code for extension.
The service is very user friendly, doesnt require any registration and works with all mobile phones and operators, and can send warning messages five minutes prior to expiry of parking time reminding the customer if they need to get back or extend their parking. Consumers can top up their Crandy accounts with a prepaid Crandy Cards by dialing a phone number, or using their credit cards online by mobile directly in the street.
Parkeon, the worldwide leader in Parking systems, is the company behind managing the car parks. Each ticket calculated online by Parkeon is stored in a ticket database. Parking Ticket Wardens (Controllers) are equipped with PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) where all ticketing information is displayed in real time. The controllers can easily match the car registration numbers with the database being displayed on their PDA to asses if correct payments have been made.
