Networking has answered a prayer
The ability to talk to pay and display parking machines in car parks in South Wales has answered a prayer for a car parking manager.
Eddie Peddar, who retires from Bridgend County Borough Council on February 20, said he had valued the networking of the local authoritys 28 Metric Accent machines which had been phased in since 2006.
He said the council was running the full alpha numeric keypad on the GSM network which allowed him to talk to the machines over the telephone line whether they were situated in a short stay car park in Bridgend or a long stay in Porthcawl.
Said Eddie: We can respond very quickly to any malfunction, download an audit of all the networked machines on the system and change the tariffs from the control centre.
He said he had made a recommendation to the councils transportation and engineering group manager to replace ageing Auto-Slots in the new financial year.
