New integrated parking solution benefits electric car drivers

Leading provider of parking solutions, Zeag, launched its concept for a new integrated solution for electric car charging and parking at Intertraffic 2010.
The eZEcharge system does away with the need for two separate payments for parking and charging making for a more convenient parking experience for electric car drivers. Zeag identified the problem and developed a software solution and an integrated charge and payment point for use in car parks. The system, which will be available to car park owners and operators world wide, accepts all payment methods. According to Zeag, eZEcharge should appeal in particular local authorities, who are looking to generate revenue but also reduce carbon emissions.

David Jones, Chief Marketing Officer of the Zeag Group, said: "Local authorities can use the system to expand their charging bays and encourage use of electric vehicles by making it easier to park and charge."

In addition, the system has the capacity for variable charging; as drivers can pay for their parking and charging at the same time in one single transaction, car park operators can offer competitive charging, discounting parking for example, if drivers are charging their vehicles at the same time.

Jones commented: "On the street charging bays are becoming increasingly common, but they are not so easy to find in car parks. The eZEcharge system will enable car park operators to offer a better, more convenient service to drivers of electric vehicles, benefitting driver, car park operator - and the environment.
