New National Smart Card Parking Standard Gaining Momentum
Parcxmart Technologies™, Inc ., an electronic payments company, and P.O.M. Incorporated , a leader in parking meter innovation, today announced the successful completion of integration of P.O.M. single-space parking meters that can, upon installation, securely accept Parcxmart-compliant smart card transactions.
Beginning early 2006, P.O.M. will begin manufacturing parking meters that incorporate Parcxmart Technologies' turnkey smart card payment platform.
“P.O.M. is excited to partner with Parcxmart Technologies because our city clients are looking for a standardized smart card parking meter payment system built around merchant communities,” said Terry Henderson, P.O.M.'s Marketing Manager. “The Parcxmart payment system is the first that integrates on and off-street parking as well as local merchant purchases, thereby eliminating the need for cities to manage the transactions. Having an interoperable smart card parking payment standard works well for people who drive from city to city and are looking for a convenient way to pay for parking and small dollar transactions, and POM wants position itself to take full advantage of this growing market.”
The Parcxmart card and patent-pending payment solution is America 's first fully-functional parking and local merchant smart card payment system. The Parcxmart™ Card solution offers drivers and consumers a convenient one card alternative to coins and cash for small dollar transactions at on-street and off-street parking locations, as well as for retail purchases at participating merchants across the United States. In addition to P.O.M., Duncan Parking Technologies and Cale Systems are also manufacturing meters that can be integrated with the Parcxmart parking standard. The Parcxmart payment solution is already operational in New Haven, CT, and San Jose, CA.
“We are also excited about our partnership with P.O.M.,” said John Regan, President and CEO of Parcxmart Technologies. “P.O.M. brings much experience in parking meter technology that incorporates the use of cards instead of coins. P.O.M. clearly understands the benefits of offering Parcxmart compliant meters to a parking authority. They have witnessed how operating costs decrease while audit control increases in the Parcxmart network.”
