New Varioflex off-street parking

London, UK – Schlumberger e-City, a business segment of Schlumberger Limited, today announced that it will be demonstrating its new Varioflex Pay-on-Foot (P-o-F) parking systems for the first time in the UK on Stand Nos. F5/G5 at Parkex 2003. The new automatic and manual pay stations and enhanced entry/exit terminals complement the Company’s existing Varioflex management server which facilitates the centralised monitoring and management of a number of car parks from a central location. The revolutionary design of the new Varioflex machines, with their crisp profiles and use of contrasting materials and finishes, brings the stylish edge created by the Company for its Pay & Display (P&D) parking terminals to off-street parking.
SCHLUMBERGER VARIOFLEX PAY STATION.jpgVarioflex has evolved from the Flexio range of P-o-F parking equipment, benefiting from the Company’s 30 years experience in designing and producing P&D parking and mass transit ticketing terminals for world markets. All Varioflex systems undergo full testing in simulated on-site trials which customers are welcome to witness prior to delivery
The Varioflex automatic pay station features an integral colour display screen which is recessed – along with the ergonomically-designed controls – to create a private and secure environment for users, a particularly important consideration for those paying with credit/debit cards. User instructions can be provided on-screen, via functions keys, luminous guides and/or voice prompts.
A wide range of specifications enables parking operators to specify Varioflex systems to meet their precise individual requirements.
Latest innovations in Pay & Display parking systems increase
Schlumberger will also be demonstrating a number of developments on its Stelio(tm) and Strada(tm) P&D terminals. They include the application of enhanced wireless data transfer facilities which have reduced the time it now takes the terminals to validate and process debit/credit card payments by a third, to around 20 seconds.
The introduction of a new, compact keypad will resolve the problem faced by parking operators wanting to implement a vehicle registration plate identity scheme on their P&D systems. Equipped with alpha-numeric keys, it is able to accept the combination of letters and numerals featured on the new style UK number plates introduced in 2001.
Also new is an “intelligent” electronic lock mechanism in which the lock itself is isolated from the key ingress. Any interference with the key point will not damage the lock and the electronic keys are reprogrammeable in the P&D terminals, so their loss or theft is easily counteracted.

Schlumberger will also be demonstrating the mobile phone payment system from Itsmobile on one of its P&D terminals. Already operating successfully in Dublin, this enables drivers to pay for parking via their mobile phones. It is currently being trialled in Edinburgh.
Schlumberger e-City is a world leader in on-street parking solutions. Globally, its systems control more than 2.6 million parking spaces in more than 3,000 cities and 40 countries.
