NEW WEB-BASED TECHNOLOGY FOR ASLAN BACK OFFICE SYSTEM
New web-based technology is at the heart of the latest generation of Metrics ASLAN back office system which was launched into the UKs parking industry 20 years ago.
Many of the systems well known features, Alert and Stats, have been incorporated into one single ASLAN web application.
Now the user is able to find everything in one single interface without the need to switch applications.
Announcing the next generation of ASLAN, Metrics Development and Systems Manager Sandy Mace said that to access the applications it was no longer necessary to install client software at each location where a user wanted to perform their duties.
The only requirement, said Sandy, is that Internet Explorer or other compatible browsers is available. Clients no longer have to be PC based. With the information being viewed in web browsers, many mobile devices can be used when the system is opened up to the internet.
The latest Microsoft technologies will help customer IT departments introduce the ASLAN web applications with minimal fuss.
He said Alert would continue to provide the real time monitoring features and communication options to Metrics range of pay and display equipment, new and old.
The web interface now allows the user to perform functions directly from the machine details provided in the status viewer, making it easier to navigate the system, Sandy explained.
With the new reporting engine, reports can be generated in many formats, examples being Excel, PDF and CSV, allowing the user to utilize the system data in many ways.
Where customers require additional reports, templates can be developed by Metric, third parties or their own internal staff and added to the system with ease.
Further enhancements to the reporting system include a reporting scheduler which provides automated report generation with delivery to a network folder or via email.
Customers who have existing versions of ASLAN can take advantage of the ASLAN web applications by ordering a system upgrade from Metric. Each customer upgrade will be fully supported by the Metric Systems staff with training included.
For those customers who would prefer the back office to be hosted with internet access to their system and data, Metric can offer such solutions and welcome enquiries, he added.
The first release of the ASLAN web applications is the start of a new suite of products from Metric who announce that further developments are continuing throughout 2008.
