North Parking Deck At The University Of North Carolina-Charlotte Is Complete

This attractive brick clad facility contains 1,171 parking spaces, primarily used by residents of the nearby student housing complex. The structural system is cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete with precast cladding.

In keeping with campus architectural standards, the parking deck exterior is comprised of an attractive brick façade. In a first for the university, the brick elements were cast into the precast spandrels greatly reducing labor costs and enhancing durability.

The cascading grand stair in the front of the deck provides an efficient means of egress and an attractive architectural element on the broad frontal elevation. Other design features include covered area for bus loading, energy efficient induction lighting, provisions for future access control equipment, convenient one-way drive aisles and angled parking, and white painted ceilings to enhance the user experience.

Carl Walker provided project planning, structural programming, parking consulting, and functional design. The project architectural team consisted of ADW Architects in collaboration with Neighboring Concepts. The North Parking Deck is the third completed parking garage on the UNCC campus for Carl Walker.
