NSL has been appointed to run on street parking enforcement for East Herts council. East Herts is the lead council in a contract which also covers Stevenage and Welwyn and Hatfield District Councils, and will go live in January 2012. It lasts for five years, with an option to extend a further two, for a potential total contract value of around 9 million.
The company expects to TUPE around 40 staff from the current contractor, APCOA. The new operation will also include cash collection, first-line maintenance of pay and display machines, and patrolling of some off street car parks. Tim Cowen of NSL commented: Were delighted to be appointed and are looking forward to working with East Herts. It is extremely diverse area, with some busy market towns, and a big commuter population, so the traffic pressures are constantly shifting. We believe in the partnership approach when working with clients. We will use this approach to support our clients transport strategies through intelligent parking enforcement and the ongoing innovation that NSL can bring to bear.
