The Town of Snowmass Village in Colorado recently completed installation with NuPark, Inc. for a new digital parking enforcement and permitting platform utilizing license plate recognition technology. Prior to the installation, Snowmass Village previously used a physical parking permit program for the Town’s 13 paid surface lots, which provides over 1,000 off-street spaces for commercial and residential use.
“The parking challenges of a mountain resort are massive. We were compelled to move away from our physical permit parking system and embrace the new virtual permit with license plate reader technology enforcement.” said Brian Olson, Chief of Police for Town of Snowmass Village. “A thorough selection process paired us with Nupark. Snowmass Village is considered one of the world’s best ranked ski resorts in the world, averaging over 8,000 skiers a day during peak ski season. The new parking management system will alleviate the enforcement process for the Town by installing cameras on police vehicles that will scan parking lots and detect vehicles without permits. Patrons who receive a violation will be able to pay or appeal the citation from their computer or mobile device. The Town also manages timed parking, street parking, and day use only lots. The Permit Parking program issues seasonal residential, employee, and temporary guest permits, among others.
