Renovation and Extension Armenian Church Jaffa, Israel

 

The project 'Armenian Church' is directly located at the waterfront promenade of old Jaffa, which dating back to its eventful history to the pre-Christian era has become a popular place to live in modern Tel Aviv. The building complex of the Armenian Church is around 800 years old and has been extended and altered several time during history.

 

Today due to its complete renovation the multiple use of the total area of 7000 sqm includes luxurious apartments as well as the installation of 20 car parking places on Parklifts which can be reached via a shunting platform and turntables. The garage can be opened through remote control. The turntable and shunting platform in the garage are indispensable as the nearly thousand years old listed building structure provides only very limited manoeuvring areas.

Turntable

 

For using 4 parking spaces left and right from the turntable, the cars must be turned. Only then the driver can use her parking place, secure her car, get out and leave the garage. The vault of the building structure allows only Parklift 313 with 2 inclined platforms.

 

Shunting Platform

 

Caused by the narrow space the parking places in the rear of the garage can only be accessed with the aid of the shunting platform 504.

 

At the operating panel the driver moves it in front of her car in automatic mode. She drives it in front of the shunting platform, secures her car and enters her destination at the operating panel on the shunting platform. Then the shunting platform moves automatically to the destination.

 

Safety flaps at both length sides of the platform stop the shunting platform immediately in case of an obstacle. The destination has been reached, the user drives from the shunting platform on the lowered upper parking place of the Parklift 402, gets out and leaves the garage.

Getting out of the garage

 

To retrieve her car from the lower parking place of Parklift 402, the user has to operate the device at the wall: She moves the shunting platform 504 in automatic mode in front of her parking place.

 

At the operating device for Parklift 402 the unit for 4 cars is lifted in a hold-to-run-mode, the user drives on the shunting platform and moves it, until the exiting position has been reached. She drives the car backwards on the turntable, leaves her car to turn it into the exiting position and departs.

 

The garage 2 impressively shows the composition of the 10 parking places in the vault, which reduces the availability regarding heights, depths and lengths of the parking places. Driving backwards from Parklift 440 the car is turned into exiting position.
