Smart Parking Space Management Blind Database Control System

The Vetterstraat project is in the immediate vicinity of the Amsterdam inner city and offers attractive work close to the centre to water. There is hardly any parking, which is why an intelligent solution had to be found.

The building with its glass and steel façade facing the water is impressive, thanks to its atmosphere, light-filled design and attractive, newly built offices. There are 300 employees here on 8000 m. The creation of the parking spaces needed by employees and visitors confronted the architects and planners with especially great challenges.

Typically for Amsterdam, access to the underground garage is below sea level. A conventional underground garage with ramps over several underground floors would not only have involved excessive building costs, but also meant a building time that was unacceptable to the investor.

Classic preconditions for using space-saving parking systems: the ideal solution was achieved with parking and combination lifts for three parking space levels with only one driving level. It was possible to reduce the underground garage to one floor with an overall height of 5.75 m. Ramps for other floors were unnecessary.

Since not all employees are simultaneously present in the building, the customer requirements  of 150 parking authorizations was to be met with just 87 parking spaces. The precondition for this was a solution where the parking authorization did not trigger a fixed reservation of a parking space in the parking system. Upon entry the employee was to be shown whether and where a free parking space was still available.

The innovative Wöhr blind data base control system facilitates computer-guided allocation and optimal capacity utilization of the parking spaces.
