Parcxmart payment system to expand to payments for unattended devices

Parcxmart Technologies, Inc ., an electronic payment firm specializing in small-dollar transactions, today announced that QI Systems Inc. (OTCBB:QIIIF) , a developer and integrator of microchip-based card payment and tracking solutions, will expand its integration of support for the Parcxmart smart card payment program . Already integrated in the QI Hybrid line of card payment terminals designed for use in the parking industry, the Parcxmart card scheme will also be accepted in unattended devices supported by QI such as kiosks, vending machines, laundry washers and dryers.

“The Parcxmart payment system works because it is designed to incorporate a variety of small dollar transactions, from on and off street parking, to merchant sales in stores and restaurants,” said John Regan, Parcxmart Technologies President and CEO. “The more uses there are for the card, the more useful a payment tool it becomes for the consumer. Instead of relying on cash, a consumer can now use his or her Parcxmart Card to pay for parking, buy coffee at the local café, pick up a newspaper from the outdoor kiosk, buy a drink from the nearby vending machine, and purchase a magazine at the local bookstore. The cities win by co-branding the cards locally thereby establishing affinity with their local merchant base . They also win by streamlining their transportation and parking operations. The merchants win with efficient transaction processing rates, increased store traffic, and Parcxmart commissions. With the addition of unattended devices to the program, more people will have more incentive to use their Parcxmart Cards, thereby increasing revenues all around.”

QI Systems completed integration of support for the Parcxmart smart card payment program in the QI Hybrid line of card payment terminals on November 2, 2005. The QI Hybrid is the payment terminal series designed for use in the parking industry. Integration of the Parcxmart card scheme with the QI Hybrid terminals means the Parcxmart cards can now be accepted in Cale multi space meters and other devices.
