parkbytext™ Launches New Service

First in Europe to introduce this cashless payment method for parking

2bill, parkbytext™'s new mobile parking payment system

parkbytext™, Ireland’s leading mobile parking operator, has officially launched parkbytext™ 2Bill, a new mobile parking payments service that enables payments to be taken directly from customers’ mobile phone bill or pre-pay credit. This is a first in the European parking sector and offers customers another way of parking with greater convenience and ease.

Customers can pay for parking by texting the parkbytext™ number, in the same way they would text to donate to a charity. Users don’t need to register an account as the parking charge is conveniently deducted from their phone credit or added to their phone bill.

Using the parkbytext™ 2Bill service, unregistered and registered users can pay for parking through their mobile phone. The new service was launched in Iarnród Éireann’s Connolly & Heuston Stations (Dublin), Kent Station (Cork) and Ceannt Station (Galway) car park facilities last week. 2Bill recorded its most successful day on a Saturday with a 19% of parkbytext customers choosing this new method of payment. The average uptake since launch is 8%.Customers can alternatively pay for parking by registering on the company’s website and pay for their parking by text, app, online or phone.

Jim Moore, CEO of parkbytext™ said: “parkbytext™ aims to make parking payments easier for customers. parkbytext™ 2Bill offers the most convenient and quickest method of parking payment in the Irish and European market. We strive to be innovators and leaders in the parking industry and with this product we are first to market in Europe. The new service is already proving popular with commuters in Ceannt train station in Galway city. We already accept payments online, via text messaging, App and through interactive voice response technology.”

Michael Power, Head of Strategy (Train Operations), Irish Rail said: “parkbytext™ has been servicing Iarnród Éireann’s car parks nationally since 2010, offering our commuters a convenient parking payment solution. parkbytext™ 2Bill goes one step further as it also serves once-off and unregistered customers, and it is a first in Europe. It is a seamless service that makes parking and travelling by train more convenient for all users.”
