A revolutionary new approach to Pay-on-Foot parking
Parkeon will be demonstrating a revolutionary barrier-less solution, called ParkingPal, on its stand (B1) at Parkex 2010.
It integrates Parking Applications Veri-PARK management and control system with a significantly enhanced Parkeon Strada Pay & Display (P&D) terminal, equipped with a full colour touch screen. This sophisticated new approach to Pay-on-Foot (P-o-F) operations is designed to increase compliance and revenues, whilst providing an improved parking experience.
Upon entering the car park, images of each vehicle and its registration plate are captured and transmitted, via a network, to the payment terminals, where they are displayed on the Stradas larger-than-normal screen. Drivers scroll through the display and press the touch screen when they have identified their vehicle. They then pay for the required parking period, either upon arrival or departure. Because all activity is logged by the system, a paper receipt replaces the usual P&D ticket, as motorists do not need to demonstrate that they have paid to park.
ParkingPal considerably reduces the parking equipment infrastructure. The overall result is substantial reductions in capital, installation, maintenance and running costs, plus increased functionality.
Operators have the option of implementing soft parking enforcement policies, giving drivers the opportunity to settle unpaid parking charges, rather than fining them; a strategy that will appeal to some councils and shopping centre managements. Both Parkeon and Parking Applications regard this as The friendlier face of parking the way it should be.
The information provided by customers and errant drivers enables parking operators to create databases that allow them to communicate with visitors on subsequent visits, sending welcoming text messages or promotions from retailers and other businesses.

Wave & Pay contactless card payments hit the streets
Parkeon will also be demonstrating the latest Wave & Pay technology on its standard Strada P&D terminals. The Companys industry-leading contactless credit/debit cards payment solution is being trialled by Westminster City Council from February.As card issuers periodically require customers to confirm their identities with a Chip & PIN transaction, when using Wave & Pay machines; Parkeon is unique in the P&D sector in enabling both types of transaction on a single machine, to ensure customers are able to complete their transactions.
