Parkeon Delivers Off-Board Fare Collection For Portland Streetcar System

Moorestown, NJ – Parkeon, Inc. is excited to announce the installation of 77 Strada Pay Stations for the City of Portland, Oregon’s Streetcar System. The new pay stations will help increase the speed of the Streetcar system by allowing riders to purchase their tickets off-board instead of spending time paying on board. This system also keeps cash off-board, providing added security for both drivers and riders.

Parkeon’s Portland Stradas are solar powered, wireless, and are configured as cashless machines, accepting credit cards only. The Stradas offer strong software flexibility allowing Streetcar riders the selection of up to five fare options and the convenience of printing up to five tickets in one transaction. The machines meet all ADA requirements by providing voice messaging via an audio jack, and braille instruction labels.

The Strada ParkeonPay Station offers a great combination of high technology and value especially when compared to the costs of a traditional ticket vending machine, thus providing an efficient and cost effective solution for Portland. Organizations like New York City Transit, Seattle Department of Transportation, Community Transit, and Lane Transit already take advantage of this unique low cost system.

“We are very pleased to be able to partner with Portland and provide them with a cost effective yet robust fare collection system,” said Chris Octon, US Parkeon President. “Parkeon is truly leading the way by offering this solution for Streetcar and BRT type applications.”
