Wandsworth Goes Contactless in Move to Cashless Terminals

Wandsworth Goes Contactless

Wandsworth is moving overwhelmingly to cashless parking terminals in a drive by the London borough to enhance customer convenience…while at the same time, benefiting from secure and reliable parking terminals.

The local authority has just installed 177 Parkeon StradaPAL terminals as part of a renewal programme as some of the previous machines were 17 years old. The latest batch follows on from 140 StradaPAL machines installed in 2014.

All the new terminals selected by Wandsworth are solar powered and are Chip and PIN and contactless enabled –four machines will accept cash. They can all be configured remotely, with customer communication presented via a 7” colour screen.

As part of the contract, Parkeon supports Wandsworth with a full bureau service, with two dedicated engineers available to ensure a quick response with any support needed.
A spokesperson for Wandsworth commented: “The terminal technology meets our needs in terms of functionality, security and efficiency and will ultimately lead to a better customer experience.

The contactless payment options will be of particular benefit to our customers as this is proving to be a fast and convenient electronic payment method. With the amount of contactless cards currently in circulation, there is now everyday acceptance of the use of this payment method and it is becoming increasingly significant as time goes by. Having Parkeon engineers on call supports the council’s needs, while the centralised management system will provide data to help shape our future parking strategy.
