Parker by Streetline™ Named a 2013 Global Mobile Award Finalist

Shortlisted in Smart Cities Category alongside AT&T, Masabi, Vodafone & Huawei, and ZTE

- Foster City, Calif.

Streetline, Inc., a leading global provider of smart parking solutions for cities, universities, and private operators, today announced that the company’s real-time parking guidance app Parker by Streetline was named a 2013 Global Mobile Awards finalist in the Best Mobile Innovation for ‘Smart Cities’ category.

Parker by Streetline makes finding and paying for parking easy. With the app, consumers can quickly view available parking options based on pricing, location, and/or real-time availability. When driving, the app is hands free for easy operation; it features voice guidance to provide an audible cue when available parking is nearby, and drivers may also place their smartphones on a car dashmount just as they would with a GPS system. Real-time availability is provided via the company’s patented smart parking platform detects the presence of a car through a network of ultra-low power wireless sensors, as well as other sensing devices.

Telefónica and Streetline announced in last November that they will be jointly marketing and selling telematics-enabled smart parking services that allow cities to optimize parking management, while delivering higher quality of life to their citizens by reducing car traffic. Streetline will provide smart parking services, applications, and technical support, while Telefónica will contribute with its m2m platforms, financial services, commercial network, including pre- and post-sales support, and customer care. Everything will be deployed over the best in class global networks of Telefónica.

The Global Mobile Awards, which recognize excellence and innovation within the mobile communications industry, will be presented at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday, February 26. To select the nominees for the 2013 awards, more than 160 independent analysts, journalists, academics and subject matter experts throughout the world participated in the judging process.

“The GSMA warmly congratulates all the nominees announced today. The competition this year was of an exceptionally high quality, breaking all previous records,” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA. “Our judging panel has assessed well over 600 entries and nominations for the 37 awards, the largest ever number of honors to be presented at the Global Mobile Awards. It is a tremendous achievement to have been shortlisted and we look forward to recognizing the winners at Mobile World Congress next month.”

“Over 30 cities worldwide are using Parker by Streetline to guide drivers to open spaces and reduce negative societal impacts from circling the block in search of a spot, including traffic and emissions,” said Zia Yusuf, president & CEO of Streetline. “Being named a Global Mobile Award finalist is truly an honor.”
