Parking Chief Honoured by the Queen

Chief Executive of the British Parking Association (BPA), Keith Banbury, has been awarded an OBE in the Queens birthday Honours.
Keith has been honoured for his service to the parking industry and his dedication to making parking enforcement in the UK more legitimate, transparent and fair.

He has been instrumental in the development of initiatives to help raise standards in the parking industry, including a major independent review of decriminalised parking enforcement; the development of a model contract to standardise on-street parking enforcement; the introduction of a national parking attendant training course; and the revamping of the Safer Parking Scheme.

Keith comments: I am delighted to have been honoured in this way. While it is boost for me personally I believe it recognises the growing status and standing of the BPA and the Parking Industry. Effecting change is a real challenge for the entire parking industry but it is important that we improve the perception of the role parking enforcement plays on Britains streets. At the BPA we are dedicated to making practices more acceptable and fair for the public, and through a number of initiatives I am confident that we can do this.

Prior to working with the BPA, Keith was Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Building for 12 years. He is also a member of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Steering Group, and Chairman of the BPA Safer Parking Scheme Board.
