Provincetown: ParkNOW! has reached another East Coast holiday destination and started offering its cell phone parking service at the very tip of Cape Cod. This New England town, well known for its beaches, harbor, and artists, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the U.S.
Since 1620, when the Pilgrims settled there, the waters have been fertile grounds for fisherman. Even though one can still enjoy the pristine nature and wildlife, technological advances have made in easier. Whether whale watching, cycling, or strolling along the beach, visitors need not worry about their parking time expiring as long as they have a cell phone.
Now visitors will not only be able to pay for parking with a cell phone, but also start and extend a parking session remotely. Even if some locations have spotty cellular coverage, parking may be initiated on the go, so customers can still take advantage of the convenient service. Enforcement of cell phone parking sessions takes place through ParkNOW!’s web-based interface.
The pilot was launched September 7, 2012 in all non-gated lots and locations where pay kiosks are available, adding up to 7 locations altogether.
