Perth and Kinross buy their 200th Metric Machine

Perth and Kinross Council has increased its family of Metric parking machines to 200.
The latest orders are for 30 new Aura machines by the River Tay in the South Inch area of Perth as part of a rolling programme of 20 Auras a year to replace the older Auto Slots.

Perth and Kinross also intend to use the new technology to have a back office system which will ultimately connect all their Metric parking machines.

Fiona Reid, the councils parking operations manager, said Perth and Kinross chose the Aura after a demonstration from Metrics Scottish sales representative Tom Porteous.

We were extremely impressed with the new features on the machine, particularly the health and safety and security aspects, said Fiona.

The design of the Aura reflects much more simplified technology and its customer friendliness. It is also a very sleek machine with a nice design.

She said user feedback to the first of the Auras on Perths streets was very positive. Users of different heights appreciate the friendliness of the machines and that a small light comes on when it starts to get dark.

They also welcome the Auras visual appearance in so much as it blends in with the other street furniture in the councils corporate colours of aqua marine blue.

She said that the pay and display zone in Perth centre had been extended to include another 10 parking machines. Most of the new Auras are on street where 60p will buy half an hours parking. But six have been installed in a car park in South Inch where motorists can park all day for 2.50.

Fiona added that Perth and Kinross would be looking to go solar in the future.
