PIPS Technology Inc. the Knoxville, Tennessee, announces the release of its latest innovation, the “Mobile LPI”

Mobile License Plate Inventory (LPI) will provide parking operators with a speedy, accurate and effective means of recording licence plate inventory. The system is totally independent of vehicle type. Mounting on the rear of any vehicle with a 2-inch receiver mount, it is owered from the 12 volts available at the trailer socket. A radio Ethernet contained within the unit allows plate data to be sent directly to a tablet PC located in the vehicle. This device forms the operator control console. The system has many unique features which result in efficiency benefits, most of which are covered in the company’s PTC patent application PTC/US03/00634.

Two of these cameras are twin lens P362 types, which provide the system with the ability to look at both sides of a row of parked vehicles as the collection vehicle traverses the parking lot. These side view cameras have twin sensors and lenses to provide both wide and narrow fields of view. This allows the unit to obtain the best image even if the arget vehicles are located at variable distances. Location data is obtained in open lots by a built-in GPS sensor. In multi-story applications where GPS echnology is non-effective, a unique upward facing camera reads pre-mapped tags providing location information together with time and date stamps
referenced to the vehicle licence identification.

The tablet PC provides a viewfinder capability and audio alarms indicate if a misread has occurred. The data stored on the tablet control console can be downloaded to the master inventory system for full comparison and
analysis.
