Q-PARK WANTS TO BE HEART SAFE!

Q-Park will be installing defibrillators in all of its staffed car parks, thereby contributing to better safety for the millions of customers who use its parking facilities each year.

Treating sudden cardiac arrest quickly

Three hundred people suffer from sudden cardiac arrest in the Netherlands every week. If no action is taken, this can lead to irreparable brain damage and death within only a few minutes. Immediate resuscitation and defibrillation (delivering an electric surge to return the heartbeat to a normal rhythm) provides a greater chance of survival. It is therefore essential to receive help quickly. This is why Q-Park has decided to equip all of its staffed parking facilities with defibrillators. In addition to the usual in-house emergency and first aid training courses, Q-Park parking hosts will now also be trained to use this device, so that they can offer immediate assistance in life-threatening situations.

Contributing to safety

The defibrillators are in excellent keeping with Q-Park’s goal to make its parking facilities as safe as possible. Ward Vleugels, Board Chairman of Q-Park, explains, “Safety is one of the pillars that support our quality commitment. To us this means more than good lighting and video surveillance. We also aim to give our customers a feeling of safety in situations in which every second counts, such as sudden cardiac arrest. Q-Park wants to be ‘heart safe’ and, thanks to the purchase of these defibrillators, we can be just that. This has been confirmed by the Netherlands Heart Foundation, which is supporting our initiative.” The installation of the defibrillators at Q-Park will take place gradually, first city by city in the Netherlands, followed by the Q-Park parking facilities in the other European countries.
