Comprehensive Quercus Technologies Guidance System Installed at the Amédée St. Germain Parking Garage

- Bordeaux, France
Parking guidance from Quercus Technologies helps to reduce traffic in the newly-built, 303 space parking garage.

November 2022 marked the grand opening of the Amédée St. Germain parking garage, located near the Saint-Jean train station in Bordeaux, France. The new facility provides parking for the residential buildings in the city center, employees of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, and customers of local restaurants and hotels.

The new parking garage has two levels, featuring 303 parking spaces. On the first floor, near the elevators and other access points, there are a number of spaces reserved for users with reduced mobility, so they can park quickly and without any accessibility issues. What’s more, with a view to supporting new technologies, the parking management company offers customers 22 spaces to park and charge EVs completely free of charge.

The parking garage, located near Saint-Jean Station, gives customers the possibility to park nearby at rates that are more affordable than those of other similar facilities. Additionally, it is outfitted with smart parking systems that add to user convenience and provide a higher degree of security.

Other surprising innovations included in this new parking facility include Quercus Technologies' SC Indoor parking guidance system, which indicates the number of spaces that are free or occupied and the space type (VIP customers, individuals with reduced mobility, electric cars, etc.), while also enabling motion detection video surveillance in every parking space. Video surveillance is essential to ensure security in a parking garage. Video recordings enable the identification of fraudulent damage claims, attempted thefts, and any incidents occurring between vehicles.

The installation of the SmartLPR Access license plate recognition cameras at the parking garage access points expedites facility entrances and exits. Streamlining this process puts an end to long lines of vehicles, and creates more fluid traffic inside the facility.

Another boost to the guidance system is two kiosks featuring Find Your Car functionality, a quick and simple way for customers to locate their cars. Drivers simply enter their license plate number or time of entry. The kiosk then shows an image of their vehicle with the space number and area in which it is located. Alternatively, users can view a map of the entire parking garage with the location of their vehicle highlighted. The installation of these kiosks guarantees a better experience for drivers who, at the end of a long day, may have forgotten where they parked their car.

All of this is made possible by the intercommunication between the above-mentioned SC Indoor parking sensors and the BirdWatch parking management platform, which centralizes all of the information received from the sensors and shows it directly on the kiosk screen.

This project has been a success thanks to the close cooperation of our partner AXIOME CONCEPT, and the trust placed in us by METPARK, the parking facility management company.
