SABA ACQUIRES 40% OF SABA ITALIA FROM AUTOSTRADE AND NOW CONTROLS 100% OF ITS ITALIAN SUBSIDIARY

Saba, a subsidiary of Abertis Infraestructuras has acquired 40% from its Italian subsidiary, Saba Italia, which had previously been owned by Autostrade, SpA. Once the operation, which has meant an investment of 11.3 million, has concluded, Saba will control 100% of Saba Italia and will continue to develop the company’s strategic plan thanks to the knowledge acquired in the transalpine market over the last six years.
saba.jpgIt should be remembered that Saba started its activity in Italy in 1999 with the acquisition of Italinpa, which until then belonged to the Italian public holding company IRI and which, after being bought, changed its name to Saba Italia. Later, in 2001, Autostrade joined the society with the purchase of 40% of its capital, in an operation that enabled a local, prestigious shareholder with a wide knowledge of the market to integrate.

Over these last four years, Saba Italia has managed to consolidate itself as one of the most important companies in the car park sector in the country, increasing the 21 car parks it had in 2001 to the 41 it currently has, in cities such as Rome, Milan, Trieste, Verona, Assisi and Rieti, amongst others.

These disinvestments by Autostrade responds to its objective of concentrating on the investment programme for modernising and strengthening the network of motorways in Italy and the development of its activity to improve mobility technology.

abertis values this stage of collaboration in car parks with Autostrade positively and maintain the cooperation with its international partners in areas of common interests.

International Saba

Italy and Portugal are the countries which offer the greatest international presence to Saba.

Currently, Saba Italia manages 41 car parks with 16,759 places in cities such as Rome, Milan, Trieste, Verona, Assisi and Rieti, amongst others.

In Portugal, Saba manages 16,759 places distributed in 21 car parks. The entry into Portugal happened in 1996 and also, after a stage of collaboration with a local shareholder, in May 2003, Saba gained 100% of the car park company, Spel.

Saba currently manages 88,110 car-parking places

Saba currently manages 88,110 places in all, distributed between 170 car parks in Spain, Italy, Chile, Portugal, Morocco and Andorra, counting those that are currently operational (82,459 places in 151 car parks) as well as the ones that are projected.

Saba is the car park subsidiary of the infrastructure group abertis, a corporation that also operates in the motorway activity, telecommunications infrastructures, airports and logistical services sectors. abertis is the leading private organisation in Spain in the management of transport and communications infrastructures.
