Spel, a subsidiary of saba (100%) in Portugal, has opened two new car parks in the cities of Leiria and Portimao, which have meant an investment of 13 million euros.

The underground car park in the city of Leiria, in the region of the same name, between Lisbon and Coimbra, meant a total investment of 5.9 million euros. The installation has 309 parking places and was carried out through an association with the local construction company Joao Cerejo dos Santos, which has a share of 49% in the project. In the city of Leiria, Spel also manages 140 parking places in a regulated parking area.

In Portimao (in the Algarve region), Spel has set up an underground car park with 335 parking places distributed on four floors. The total investment was 7.1 million euros and will be managed as a concession for 50 years. In Portimao, Spel has been managing 500 regulated parking places since 2002.

At present, Spel has 16,802 parking spaces in all, in 21 car parks in cities such as Oporto, Lisbon, Viseu or Matosinhos.

Saba manages 89,185 parking places

Saba currently manages 89,185 parking places distributed between 166 car parks in Spain, Italy, Chile, Portugal, Morocco and Andorra. Taking into account the places it has projected, Saba will soon be managing 180 car parks and almost 94,000 parking places.

Saba is the car-parking subsidiary of the abertis infrastructure group, a corporation that also operates in the airport, motorway, telecommunications infrastructures and logistics services sectors.
